about

the polar bodies began recording on a dying tascam in the late 90's in olympia, wa. after buying a cheap drum machine at the turn of the millenium, their musical output shifted from post-fsa space folk to a sound filled with more analog synth (courtesy of a roland juno 106 bought for them in junior high to encourge piano practice), cheap beats and indiepop aesthetic. soon the portastudio gave up on life and they began recording on an obsolete computer. though their technology increased slowly over the years their sound retained a number of familiar elements: big beats, a profound mellowness, and a penchant for both the absurd and the melancolic, often simultaneously. the polar bodies currently inhabit laramie, wy.
